The UX Design Thinking

Here is the process of UX Design Thinking in order to make fully functional products in the real world!

1. Brainstorm

Brainstorming is about coming up with ideas to fix your problem. It is suggested to have a meaningful diversity throughout your team to consider are genders, races, etc.

Consider every idea big and small for your application because they all matter. You can also look at your competition and if they have similar products, this is necessary as research is always key to developing good products!

You can check out some info on brainstorming techniques here.

Now that you have tons of ideas you need to pick one, choose wisely and consider all opinions. New we move on to the next phase!

2. Define

Defining is the second stage of the Product Development Life Cycle. During the define step your team that should be made up of everyone including, UX Designers, UX Researchers, Program Managers, etc.

The goal is to narrow down the ideas and find the specifications like "What will it actually do" and the features.

3. Design

The third step of the Product Development Life Cycle is designing. You start to wireframe your idea (drawing it out, really messy) and develop prototypes!

Make sure the design is optimized to other aspects of UX like nice flow for the user, or the button making sense! Make sure the process of what you are developing is simple to use!

4. Test

The second last step is testing the product! UX Designers and Engineers work together to form matching prototypes with the design, this is the step where you are finalizing the design.

Now the product goes through 3 steps of rigorous testing!

  • Technical Problems: like glitches and usability
  • Company Test's: making sure it is up to the companies vision (legal stuff, privacy, etc.)
  • Real Users: Making sure it is Usable, Equitable, Enjoyable and useful! (described in later article)

Now implement the feedback, test again and re-iterate!

5. Launch

Now the final step... Launching the product! This requires how you will market the product, sell it on shelves, sell it as an app, making it go live, etc.

Now you start promoting the product, marketers market it and support helps users. It is also your job to keep on improving the site with more feedback from customers, then you have to go back to the test process!
